Sunset FAQ

When will Big Fish Backup go away?
We will begin sunsetting Big Fish Backup in January 2025 and will completely shut it down by July 31, 2025.
Why is Big Fish Backup going away?
Changes in data backup technology and cloud storage preferences have changed the way people store their data. Consequently, there is less need for a backup solution for files and folders stored on the local computer. Also wage inflation and other inflationary costs have made it too costly for us to continue to offer Big Fish Backup for free.
What happens to my backed-up files and folders?
As we begin shutting down Big Fish Backup starting January 2025, data in Big Fish Backup storage repositories will be deleted as part of the sunsetting process. You will be notified 60-days in advance of when your Big Fish Backup service will be terminated.
Does Big Fish Technology have any suggestions and/or preferences if I still need a local computer data backup solution?
Yes! We recommend using the backup-like features* found inside of Microsoft OneDrive. It allows you to automatically sync and back up your important folders, such as Desktop, Documents, and Pictures, to the cloud. This means your files are protected and accessible from any device.

If you need a true backup solution, we highly recommend either iDrive or Carbonite. If you are not comfortable doing this and want a fully managed backup solution, we can help. See the buttons below for more info.
How do I get started with OneDrive?
You may already have Microsoft OneDrive if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription. If you are not sure that you do or are unsure on how to use OneDrive, click the OneDrive button below or in the menu bar above.
Does Big Fish offer a paid managed backup solution?
Yes! We offer a backup solution for files and folders on a local computer. click the Endpoint Backup button below or in the menu bar above.

*Please note: While OneDrive offers some backup-like features, it is not a true backup solution. OneDrive primarily functions as a file synchronization and cloud storage service. This means that changes, including deletions, are mirrored across all synced devices. For a true backup solution, you might want to consider options that create independent copies of your files.
